Dr. has been working at the University Department of Neurosurgery at Vienna General Hospital since 1990. During his residency training, he spent several months with Prof. Yasargil in Zurich to improve microsurgical techniques in cerebrovascular neurosurgery, and with Prof. Samii in Hannover to improve his skills in skull base surgery. In 2000, he spent 6 months as a visiting professor at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburg, USA with Prof. Jannetta and Prof. Joh. Here he was able to expand his knowledge of the surgical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and minimally invasive spine surgery. 2000 to 2003 he developed and published a worldwide new surgical technique for the treatment of foraminal stenosis and herniated discs of the cervical spine: Microsurgical and endoscopic ventral cervical foraminotomy Since 2002 he is the head of the working group for spine surgery at the University Department of Neurosurgery. In 2006, he completed his charitable foreign assignment as a visiting professor at the Neurosurgery Clinic in Sanaa, Yemen Since the beginning of his clinical career, surgery has been the focus of his interests. He has performed over 5500 surgeries to date, specializing in spine surgery, meningiomas, skull base surgery, and microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia.
